2022 Women in Nuclear Canada Conference

Call for Proposals Are Now Closed.  The Review Process Will Begin Shortly.  Thank You to Everyone Who Submitted!

We have received an outpour of proposals and we thank everyone who did submit by the original deadline.  Due to overwhelming demand and to further ensure there is accessibility to this unique opportunity, we have extended our call for proposals until Wednesday, July 13th at 11:59 pm (ET).  This unfortunately will be the one and only extension, so do not miss out! 

The theme of our 2022 conference isForward Together’.  The conference will be held in Niagara Falls, Ontario from September 25-28th   This year’s annual conference will highlight the vital role women play in all applications of nuclear science and radiation technology.  The conference will provide opportunities for networking, exchanging ideas, technical visits and obtaining the most up-to-date information on the nuclear programmes and facilities in Canada. WiN Canada is excited to welcome our members to highlight the valuable contribution women make to the nuclear industry in Canada. 

Objectives:

The objectives of the conference are to:

  • Exchange information on the latest developments, trends and challenges in the nuclear field;
  • Provide opportunities for WiN Canada members and chapters to share experience.
  • Communicate and raise public awareness of the benefits of nuclear science and technology
  • Foster interest among women in pursuing careers in nuclear-related fields

Program Opportunities:

The Program Committee invites applicants to submit an abstract for an oral presentation (20 mins) as part of the program.  In keeping with the theme of “Forward Together” WiN Canada encourages applicants to submit presentations which emphasize the positive aspects of using nuclear technologies as well as those which convey personal or professional stories of optimism and success. 

 

Note:   WiN Canada would like to provide a special invitation to students who are enrolled in post-secondary institutions in programs (including internship or co-op programs) that are aligned to the Nuclear Industry to submit a paper noted above.

 

The Call for Papers (Oral Presentations) will be included in the program as breakout sessions.  Topics for submission can include, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Leadership and Personal Development
  • Safeguards and Non-Proliferation
  • Isotopes Use and/or Production
  • SMRs
  • Innovation in Nuclear
  • Decommisioning/Waste Management
  • Climate Change
  • Sustainability and Environment
  • Research and Development
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Other (Please Specify)

The target audience for this conference is comprised of professionals working in the nuclear industry, government, supply chain and other stakeholders. Representation from all aspects of the nuclear industry is expected.

 

Abstracts:

Abstract submissions should be at least 100 words and not exceed more than 300 words on one of the topics listed above. The abstract should provide enough information on the contents of the proposed paper to enable the Program Committee to evaluate the submission. 

Please attach your current bio or CV to your submission.

Note: If you plan to co-present, please have the person who will be the primary presenter submit the abstract application.

Proposal Evaluation:

The Program Committee will evaluate all proposals submitted by the deadline. Proposals will be evaluated in two ways:

  • Merit and clarity of the 300-word abstract; and
  • Completeness of the proposal, particularly having well-developed content to understand all relevant aspects of the topic
