Thank you for your interest in presenting a pre-conference workshop at the 2022 CWA Summit! We are seeking speakers, presenters, and experts to help produce stellar professional development opportunities for the indoor climbing industry.
If you have an area of expertise and would like to share your knowledge, information, or skills, please submit a proposal by Friday, October 1, 2021.
Pre-conference workshops are designed to cover topics in much more depth than typical conference sessions allow. They vary in length from half-day (3-4 hours), to full-day (6 hours), or even multi-day formats. Pre-conference activities are intended to address issues important to the ongoing professional development of climbing wall owners, senior managers, gym managers, and staff.
The preferred date for half and full day pre-conference workshops will be Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Dates for multi-day workshops will vary based upon the length of the workshop. All pre-conference workshops must be scheduled to conclude no later than 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2020. Pre-conference workshops may not interfere with evening events on May 18, 2022 or any conference events on May 19-20, 2022.
As an add-on to the core CWA Summit conference offerings, pre-conference workshops should go in-depth on a given topic, such as:
Workshops should address best practices, especially focused on new, emerging, or innovative topics, and provide opportunities for hands-on engagement and skill development. We strive to have a mix of beginning, intermediate and advanced pre-conference workshop offerings.
Our goal is to generate lively and constructive discussion on topics that are important to industry professionals. Help us promote constructive and healthy dialogue within the climbing community!
The workshop must be educational. Sales pitches will not be considered. The format can include lecture, discussion, roundtable discussion, breakout groups, panel discussion, hands-on workshop, etc. We encourage you to be creative and think beyond a standard presentation-style format!
When crafting your proposal, consider the needs and interests of the following job functions in the indoor climbing industry:
Conference attendees in your workshop pay an additional registration fee for pre-conference events. Sponsored pre-conference workshops will carry a minimum $75.00 registration fee which the CWA will retain. Non-sponsored pre-conference revenue is shared between the presenter (60%) and the CWA (40%) after all CWA expenses are paid. Room rental charges, food and beverage charges, audio visual equipment, service charges, printing and reproduction costs, course materials provided by CWA, CWA publications, and CWA application and exam fees (if applicable) for pre-conference workshops will be deducted from the gross workshop proceeds prior to any revenue sharing payment. CWA will serve as the sole registrar for the pre-conference event.
Only conference attendees will be allowed to register for pre-conference workshops through the end of the regular registration period. Non-attendees will be wait-listed and added after the close of regular registration on a space-available basis at a specified non-attendee price. CWA reserves the right to limit the participation of non-conference attendees and to set the pricing for those attendees at its sole discretion. Non-conference attendee prices will be set at a minimum of $295.00.
Please note, in order to keep the total cost of the conference reasonable for conference participants, we suggest the following range of fees for attendees: half day $175.00, full day $350.00. However, you may set your registration fees as you see fit.
Location: We can help in locating appropriate venues and other logistical support for workshop sessions upon request. However, selection, location, logistics, costs, and contracting of appropriate venues for pre-conference workshops will be the responsibility of the presenter. Meeting space is available at local climbing gyms and at the hotel on a first-come first-served basis. The cost for meeting space, audio-visual, and food and beverage varies, please call us for more information and we will assist you in securing an appropriate space for your session.
Presenter Registration Offer: Pre-conference presenters will receive a complimentary registration for the conference. This discount is extended to ONE presenter per session and is not applicable to sponsor or exhibitor fees. Additional presenters can register for the conference at a discounted rate of $275.00.
Deadline and Submission Instructions: Please complete and submit your proposal by Friday, October 1, 2021 for priority consideration. Applications submitted after October 1, 2021 will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Selected proposals will begin to be published in January 2022.
