What to expect
The conference will run October 25 - 27, 2021 and will be held virtually. It will consist of plenary sessions and concurrent sessions that will be a combination of invited speakers and presentations selected from submitted abstracts and poster presentations. The conference will also include some panel discussions with key leaders in cancer research. On October 27, the conference will transition to include the Gairdner Science Week event that will run from 10:30 a.m. MT -1:30 p.m. MT.
Who should attend
The conference will cover all pillars of cancer research including basic biomedical, clinical, health services and population health research. It will be open to any cancer researchers, clinicians, trainees and staff who are interested in attending to learn more about Alberta cancer research.
Aims and objectives
The overall aim of the Alberta Cancer Research Conference for 2021 is to increase awareness and knowledge of the research activities within Alberta.
The specific objectives are:
- To promote collaborations and networking within and across research institutions and organizations in Alberta;
- To increase impact of cancer research conducted in Alberta;
- To recognize research excellence in Alberta.

Members of the planning committees, speakers, and other presenters have received support for research from charitable organizations; Alberta Cancer Foundation, Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, John Hecht Memorial Foundation and pharma; BMS, Novartis, Merck, Pfizer, Abbvie, Lundbeck, Teva,Celgene, Sanofi, Nestle, Janssen, Apobiologix, Bayer, Taiho, Ipsen, ESAI, Viatris and peer-reviewed grant support from CIHR, NSERC, CRS, BDF, ADI, CCS, AH, CPAC, TFRI, PCC, KWCS.
