Thank you for your interest in NYEC's Youth Action Hour!

What is the Youth Action Hour? 
The Youth Action Hour is an exciting segment of the NYEC Annual Forum in which selected young adults present their current or proposed projects to an audience of professionals and leaders in the youth advocacy space. 

Who may apply?
We seek applications from young adults (ages 16-24), particularly those who are current or former opportunity youth, who are running current projects or would like to start a project to promote positive change. We are especially interested in proposals related to:

1) Civic Engagement
2)Entrepreneurship
3) Advocacy/Activism
4) Youth Leadership

Why should I apply?
All applicants who are chosen to present will receive a mini-grant of $500! Additionally, the audience will vote on which presenter(s) will be awarded an extra $300-500.

Also, each presenter will hear valuable feedback from the audience, which will include leaders and professionals in the youth advocacy field. You will receive a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis to help refine and advance your project. This is great way to expand your network, learn of other funding sources, avoid pitfalls, and partner with other great leaders.

How does it work?
We will select a limited number of applicants to present at the 2023 NYEC Annual Forum. If you are able to physically attend the conference, you may present in-person. Otherwise, presentations will be executed through a live video conference and broadcast to both an in-person and online audience.

You will be required to use a presentation tool (Powerpoint, Canva, Google Slides, etc) and to provide a summary of your presentation, which will be added to our website. You will also attend preparation sessions with the NYEC Youth Leadership Coordinator to ensure you are presentation-ready and to answer any questions that may come up!

When is the Youth Action Hour?
This year, the Annual Forum is in Indianapolis on April 4th - 7th, 2023. The Youth Action Hour segment will occur on April 5th from 4:00-5:30 pm EST. Specific timeslots for each presenter will be finalized before presentation day.
