Canadian Ecotoxicity Workshop 2021 - Halifax, Nova Scotia

The Canadian Ecotoxicity Workshop is being held in Halifax, Nova Scotia from Sunday, October 3rd to Wednesday, October 6th. This is CEW's first hybrid meeting and we will be using Pheedloop Software to host our virtual event. This means that you can choose to present in person at the Halifax Convention Centre or virtually using the Pheedloop software. 

Submission Rules

  • Abstracts must be submitted online via the website only. ABSTRACTS SUBMITTED BY EMAIL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
  • The deadline to submit an abstract is July 16th, 2021. Abstracts received after the deadline will not be considered.
  • Abstracts may be submitted for in-person platform, in-person poster, virtual platform, or virtual poster presentations. The last date to switch between in-person or virtual is September 10th, 2021.
  • Presentations selected for virtual platform presentations must be pre-recorded and uploaded by September 20th 2021 to the Pheedloop system. If they are not uploaded by September 20th, the abstract will not be included in the scheduling.
  • Poster information for both in-person and virtual poster presentations must be uploaded by September 30th, 2021 to the Pheedloop system. 
  • The CEW 2021 Scientific Committee will inform the authors of their abstract decision by August 16th, 2021.
  • Presenting authors for any poster or platform must be registered participants (Registration opens July 5th, 2021). Only abstracts of authors who have paid their registration fees by August 31st, 2021 will be scheduled and included for conference proceedings.
  • Submission of an abstract acknowledges your acceptance for the abstract to be published in the official conference proceedings. Abstracts will be removed from conference proceedings if: the abstract is not accepted, or the presentation is pulled from the conference, or the presenter is a no-show.
  • The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract and agree to its submission, before submitting the abstract.
  • Abstracts can be submitted in English or French.
  • Instructions for the preparation of presentations and tips for recording presentations are available on the CEW website.

Guidelines for Submission

Before you begin, please prepare the following information:

  • Presenting author’s contact details:
    – Name (full first name- no initials, can have middle initial)
    – Email address
    – Affiliation details: Full Company or Academic Name (no abbreviations), city, province, country.
  • Author and co-authors’ name (Arial, font 12) and affiliations (Arial, italics, font 11).
  • Preferred Presentation type – Either in-person/ virtual Platform/Poster presentation.
  • Abstract Title limited to 30 words (Arial, font 12). 
  • Abstract Text – limited to 250 words including acknowledgements (Arial, font 12).   
  • Session Topic – select the abstract topic per the list of topics.
  • Place abbreviations in parentheses after the full word the first time it appears. 
  • Please do not submit multiple copies of the same abstract.
During the submission process, you will be asked to submit your abstract twice to speed up the review and formatting process. 
  1. Presentation Details Tab: Under this tab, please copy and paste the title and abstract details from a word document. Subscripts, superscripts, and other formatting will not work on this tab. However, this section is to speed up the reviewing process.
  2. Files Tab: Please upload a Word document with the proper formatting of your abstract. Word count will be screened based on the word document upload. The files upload tab will be used for conference proceedings. See ecotoxcan.ca for details on formatting your abstract in a Word document for upload.
Click on the SUBMIT button at the end of the process in order to submit your abstract. A confirmation email will be automatically generated.
