2020 CVMA Annual Convention - No Longer Taking Place
Given the continuing concerns over COVID-19 and in keeping with the recommendations of public health officials and provincial authorities to restrict large gatherings and non-essential travel, the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) will no longer be hosting the 2020 CVMA Annual Convention scheduled to take place in Quebec City this July. Given what the annual Convention means to the CVMA, its members and volunteers, this has been a disappointing but necessary decision.
The CVMA has embraced the above path in light of the global COVID-19 Pandemic and its implications. This is a difficult decision for the CVMA and has been made considering social responsibility and government directions and actions on the federal, provincial and municipal levels (such as the Quebec government disallowing certain events up to the end of August 2020 and the City of Toronto cancelling all major events and conferences until June 30, 2020).
As a concession in the negotiations with Convention Hotels and the Convention Centre, the CVMA has committed to host its 2023 Convention from July 6 - 9 in beautiful Quebec City and will continue with plans to host its 2021 Convention in Calgary, Alberta (July 22-25) and the 2022 Convention in Halifax, Nova Scotia (July 21-24).
We are committed to providing all registered attendees with a full refund within the next 30 days. In the meantime, please cancel your own flight and accommodation bookings.
We appreciate your understanding during these unprecedented times. Thank you and we hope to see you at our 2021 CVMA Convention in Calgary!
