Call for Proposals

  2020 IWEA Annual Conference

  August 26, 2020 - August 28, 2020

  Fort Wayne, IN

Thank you for your interest in participating in the upcoming IWEA Annual Conference taking place Wednesday, August 26th-Friday, August 28th, 2020, at the Grand Wayne Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The theme of the 2020 conference is "No Matter How Small, Every Waterway Matters". According to the EPA, 72% of our treatment facilities are considered to be small facilities. Do not let the size fool you- each of our facilities is a powerful, vital tool necessary to protect the health and safety of our waterways and communities.

The EPA estimates over 3.5 million miles of rivers in the United States. Rivers supply our drinking water, irrigate our crops, support aquatic species, and provide recreational activities for our communities. Headwater streams, which are much smaller bodies of water, are equally important. While headwater streams may not have a continuous water supply year-round, these smaller bodies of water provide crucial habitat, food, and shelter for aquatic species, and are sources of drinking water. The condition of each of our waterways is largely impacted by human activities.

Wastewater industry professionals impact our state's waterways positively by supplying clean water back into our waterways, providing safe, and usable water for our communities. This year, IWEA wants to celebrate treatment facilities, no matter how big or small. Regardless of the size of your treatment facility, IWEA wants to know how you are impacting our communities and making a difference.

IWEA invites you to join us at the 2020 Annual Conference and share how you are impacting our communities. There will be over 75 opportunities for technical presentations at the 2020 Annual Conference. Below is a list of specific topics the committee is looking to have on the schedule. Abstracts are required to be submitted through the online submission system from all interested parties. Be sure to submit your abstract to be reviewed by our committee!

NEW THIS YEAR! IWEA has added a new track at this year's Annual Conference: the YP Soft Skills Track.  The Young Professionals (YP) Committee is looking to prepare a full day of sessions in order to promote growth within the industry, and awareness of the value associated with the Young Professionals Committee.  If your presentation is geared towards skills or "lessons learned" rather than a specific project or product, IWEA invites you to submit your abstract today and select the "YP Soft Skills Track" designation.

All abstract submissions are due February 24th.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
