Welcome to the 20th Thinking Qualitatively Conference – now virtual and international in scale!

The University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO), in agreement with the University of Alberta,  International Institute for Qualitative Methodology (IIQM), is pleased to present the re-imagined 20th Thinking Qualitatively Virtual Conference (TQ). TQ will be held worldwide July 5-9, 2021.

This year, IIQM’s Qualitative Methods Conference has been combined with TQ. The program includes all of the usual features of TQ plus opportunities to present oral papers.  The conference will be entirely virtual, and will be organized around seven regions based on time zones, with world leaders in qualitative research leading each regional program.  We hope that this approach will make it easier for individuals from all parts of the world to attend TQ during their own daytime hours. Participants will also be able to attend sessions in other parts of the world that interest them.

Many thanks to all of our international organizing committee members who have designed an outstanding array of programming in each of the following regions.

North America, July 5, 2021
Latin America, July 5, 2021
Scandinavia, July 6, 2021
UK and Ireland, July 6
Continental Europe, July 7, 2021
Africa and Middle East, July 7, 2021
Australia,New Zealand, Asia, July 8, 2021
Software Training, July 9, 2021

Please join us as we welcome the world to virtual TQ 2021 .

History

The International Institute of Qualitative Methodology established Thinking Qualitatively 21 years ago as a 5-day series with keynotes, panels, interdisciplinary methodological workshops, and software training sessions.  Over time, TQ has evolved and poster presentations were added to the program. TQ 2020 was cancelled due to COVID 19. We thank all supporters for their patience while we responded these challenges.
