30th Maryland Quality Initiative Conference (2023)

January 31 - February 2, 2023

Baltimore Convention Center, 1 W Pratt St, Baltimore, MD 21201

Message from our Steering Committee Co-chairs!

We are happy to announce that we are preparing to celebrate the Maryland Quality Initiative’s 30th anniversary. The MdQI Conference is one of the largest and longest running transportation conferences in this region. With 30 years under our belt, we are truly Giants in the Industry and have coined this phrase as the theme for our next conference. MdQI began in 1993 with a large focus on partnership. This is still a cornerstone for us today and to pay homage to our early roots we are doing two special things at the next conference. The first is featuring a presentation from the Partnering Subcommittee in our lunchtime Opening Ceremony on Day 1. The second is incorporating a few workshop style technical sessions where we can come together and roll up our sleeves to tackle challenges that our industry is facing today.

Additionally, as a giant in the industry we know that we also have a duty to instill an interest in transportation careers and help with the development of our next generation of young professionals, who are the future of transportation. To aid in this charge, the next conference will include a special session geared for this demographic on Day 1 that will lead into our Engineering Challenge and Pinewood Derby Race in the afternoon. Please encourage your younger staff to attend.

Lastly, as we prepare for the conference ahead, we have transitioned into new leadership for the MdQI Steering Committee. Please welcome Teri Soos, MDOT SHA, Deputy Administrator/Chief Engineer of Operations at Hanover as our state-side Co- Chair. We are thankful to have had the guidance of Joseph Sagal over the past few years, and wish him success with MDTA endeavors.

The 2023 MdQI Conference will be held at the Baltimore Convention Center on Wednesday, February 1 and Thursday, February 2, 2023. So that we can encourage productive networking and collaboration, this special conference be conducted in our traditional style, completely in-person and will not include recorded sessions.  Copies of technical session presentations will be available after the conference, however.

Conference registration will open on November 14 for Exhibitors and on November 21 for attendees and sponsorship. Please visit our MdQI Website: www.MdQI.org to register and learn more about this conference.

Feel free to reach out and connect with us directly if we can be of assistance and we look forward to seeing you all back in person in February.
